The modern goalie is based on the butterfly model. The ability to make saves standing while also understanding the butterfly position is vital to a goalie’s success. Aidan Green understands this and has trained himself to get down quickly to cover his angles, along with having a strong glove hand. An All-American goalie award winner in 2019, the AYHL recognized his solid performance throughout the playoffs with the Knights. Keeping up with this high-level work ethic, this makes Green a coachable player who knows what he must work on to be the best he can be. The one aspect of his game that Aidan knows he can work on is his puck handling abilities. Working with his goalie coach James Pierson, Aidan drives to be the best goalie he can because he wants to exceed the expectations set for him, rather than just meeting them. A strong sense of discipline gives Aidan the work-life balance to better himself and be able to succeed in school at the same time. Green has multiple on and off ice achievements including multiple MVP awards in ice and roller hockey. He is most proud of raising money for women’s and pediatric cancer research through the October saves goalie challenge, and student of the month in school. Growing up, Aidan was told that he was not going to be good enough when he was playing in the squirt minor level. Now playing in Tier 1, Green hopes to take his game to the college or junior level. We look forward to seeing Aidan’s progression as he continues to grow.
