Someone you definitely want in the locker room, Nolan Shaw is talkative, positive, and has a total play to win attitude. Even when the team is down, Shaw never quits, fueled by an endless supply of energy that helps keep him and his team going. Shaw is also someone who likes to give back to the community as well. Shaw likes to make himself at home in front of the net, where he has an extremely good ability at controlling the puck down low. Shaw’s work ethic is on point, and he never stops competing or working hard. Shaw displays a great two-way game, where he can utilize his smooth skating to become both an offensive threat who can also be relied upon in the defensive zone. His skillset helps him compare to someone like Zach Hyman, as well as some tendencies that could be similar to Nathan MacKinnon, thanks to his toolbox of skills. Shaw has been working on his first three strides, and will continue to develop that further, as he believes it will be something he will need at the next level. This includes his play with and without the puck. Shaw is feeling confident about the 2022 OHL draft, as he has dreamed about making it since he was very little. While Shaw will be extremely honoured to be drafted, he is looking forward to either jumping right in, or taking an extra year or two in the Junior A or B levels to better fine tune his skills. At the OHL level, expect Shaw to develop into a net front winger, who can drive the net hard and set up screens or score some scrappy goals, while also being able to be relied upon in defensive scenarios.
