“Quarterbacks need heroes too.” That’s Will Smith’s motto as he works his hardest to make sure his signal-caller doesn’t get sacked. Will is a 6 foot 4 center who plays for Clarkson Football North. He’s regarded as a team leader and was chosen to be a team captain when he played JV. The high schooler has a big frame with a huge wingspan and a bright future ahead of him.
Will started as a hockey goaltender, only switching to football in early 2020. In a quick turnaround, Will has already become an impactful offensive lineman with some impressive accolades including 2nd place at a D1 Nations tournament in Atlanta. In his short football career, he has shown his fast learning curve and has huge potential in the future.
Like many O-linemen, Will looks up to the NFL’s best: the Colt’s Quenton Nelson. Will looks to emulate his game after Nelson and shares a similar mindset of working game-speed in practice and leaving everything on the field. Due to his unusual athleticism at his size, he's agile enough to play any offensive line position. He loves football because of the physical aspect but also, to him, it’s the ultimate team sport.
Outside of football, Will has shown to be a stellar student and was on the honor roll in ninth grade. He’s a multi-sport athlete and played AAA Hockey in Toronto as a top goaltender. In the future, Will looks to be a multi-year starter at a top power D1A program. Most notably, it’s Will’s dream to play at universities like Tennessee, Alabama, Cincinnati, or Michigan State. With what Will has already proved on and off the field, don't be surprised if he becomes a budding, dominant offensive lineman at the college level.
