Coach Roberts has coached with the Washington Little Capitals and Reston Hockey Club for the past 12 years and brings a wealth of coaching and player development experience, having served as Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Boston University and Harvard University, filled that same role at Player Development Camps for the Boston Bruins and Washington Capitals, as an Assistant Coach at USA Hockey Southeast District Player Development Festivals. Coach Roberts was also selected and attended the USA Hockey NTDP Coaching Co-Op program in Ann Arbor, MI. Last season, Coach Roberts coached his Reston Raiders 2007 AA to win the VA State playoffs and to the USA Hockey National Tournament in Kalamazoo, MI. Simon’s playing experience is equally diverse.  Simon grew up playing youth and varsity hockey in Boston, played junior hockey throughout New England, played NCAA D-III hockey for Bethel College, and played for the IIHF Australian National Team. “Simon has key insight into what college, junior, and even professional coaches expect and look for in their players,” said Hockey Director Brad Surdam of the Capital Accademy, “he is a great addition to our talented coaching staff.” Coach Roberts brings with him a passion for helping players develop the right habits and fundamentals they will need to advance their hockey careers.  Players he’s coached have moved on to play in NCAA, ACHA, EHL, WHL, USHL, NAHL and the NHL.
