What started as a late bloomer, Declan Younis has blossomed into a legitimate threat each time he steps onto the ice. Younis is an electric player, exceptionally fast and plays with a tremendous amount of power. Younis is a superb athlete, equipped with fantastic natural ability which allows him to play at a faster pace than his competition. Younis is an evasive skater, able to move past defenders untouched due to his superior speed and skating level. With his speed and strength, Younis has eye-widening breakaway speed, able to fly towards the net and finish up close and personal. With an incredible knack for putting the puck in the net, Younis has a plethora of moves in his arsenal that allows him to fire the puck past even the strongest goaltenders. With a vision that others can only stand by and envy, Younis has a fantastic ability to see the ice and find scoring opportunities. Younis excels at reading defences and moving the puck early in order to beat defenders from being able to stop the puck moving towards the net. On the defensive end, Younis reads passing lanes well, able to use his top tier speed to cause turnovers and force odd-man rushes on the other end. While somewhat on the smaller side of things, this does not deter Younis from mixing it up physically. Younis is a strong player that finishes his checks hard. Younis is not afraid to fight in the corners or along the boards in order to secure the puck. When moving onto the next level, Younis will need to improve his puck handling skills as he can be prone to turnovers due to his fast paced style of play. If Younis can achieve the ability to move with the puck securely, Declan Younis could grow into one of the top prospects at the junior level.
