The Prospects by Sports Illustrated Internship Program

Now accepting applications for roles in Sports Media, Sports Marketing, Event Management and Journalism.

A player that checks every box when looking for a future prospect, Charlie “Superman” Van Haverbeke fits the description to a tee. With deep family roots in the game of hockey, Van Haverbeke shows flashes of high end potential on the ice. Van Haverbeke plays the game like the Tasmanian Devil, leaving wrecks and carnage in his path. A tremendously physical player, Van Haverbeke never shies away from a physical confrontation or battle in order to give his team a winning edge in a game. Van Haverbeke plays with great power on both ends of the ice. Van Haverbeke embraces the grittiness of the sport, putting his body on the line time and time again blocking shots multiple times per contest. Along with his ability to do the dirty work, Van Haverbeke has legitimate skill to go along with his strong physical playstyle. Van Haverbeke has exceptional hand eye coordination, able to bat pucks out of the air and make plays quickly in transition. Van Haverbeke uses his strength to push through contact and facilitate for his team. With a mature mindset, Van Haverbeke rarely makes technical errors in his game, but does need to work on his patience. Van Haverbeke's insane intensity can sometimes lead him astray from the task at hand or cause frustration early on. If Van Haverbeke can continue to mature in that area of his game he will become an all-around well polished player. Van Haverbeke is continuing to grow as a player and all signs are pointing upwards as the young defenseman continues to impress. Van Haverbeke has the makings of a strong impact role player that any team at the next level would love to have, an irreplaceable asset on any squad.
