Amongst the best players in the SCTA, Halton Hurricanes captain Christopher Soares is a total swiss army knife. Soares is someone who can be depended on in any situation, be it 5 on 5, the penalty kill, or the power play. Soares was able to pull off a 40 point campaign, which led to a further 11 point performance, making him a well above point per game guy. Soares is capable of utilizing his good stickwork, solid positioning, and great speed to get back and break up passes excellently. Both his speed and edges are his greatest assets on the ice. Due to his ultra competitive nature, Soares does have a tendency to try and take a game into his own hands, though this is not out of selfishness, it is purely from his drive to win. While Soares can dabble a little bit in a physical side, he is more prone to using his speed and positioning to direct himself away from the rough areas, similar to a Mitch Marner type of player. This has proved to be a slight issue occasionally, as if Soares is caught in a battle with a larger player, he can be muscled off of the puck a bit easier. However, this is a rare occurrence as he normally stays away with the puck and goes to the open space. Soares has a winning personality, is good academically, and is a very respectful and vocal player. With the 2022 OHL draft drawing near, expect to see Soares gone between the middle of the first round to the end of the second, where he could likely challenge for an OHL spot as a solid, two-way winger in any team's top 6 for the future to come.
