A big two way defender with loads of potential, Lucas Rodriguez is quickly gaining recognition within the GTHL. Lucas, a very physical right shot defender, is someone you should watch for to have a very dominant upcoming season. He has a deadly combination of offensive talent that he’s quickly honing and physicality to be a punishing play both with and without the puck. Starting in the offensive zone, Lucas as a highly sought after right shot defender, is developing into quite the threat. His slap shot is painfully hard and something no one wants to get in front of. His playmaking ability is no joke either, he uses his very good skating to walk the blue line and create space for his teammates. He cycles the puck well and makes great accurate passes. In his own zone Lucas is very responsible as he developed his defensive aspect first. He arguably reads developing plays better than any other defender in his age group. He breaks up plays well and gets into shooting and passing lanes. He uses his physicality to defend one on ones yet also has a strong stick and can pick the puck off of opponents. With the puck in his own zone, he stays calm and poised while not rushing any passes and turning the puck over. He has the ability to use his speed to carry the puck out himself and join the rush in transition. Lucas plays on both his teams special teams and has the potential to one day QB a power play at the next level. Lucas Rodriguez is a player every team should have their eyes on heading into the next season.
