Cameron Allan is widely considered to be one of, if not the best defenseman eligible for the 2021 OHL Priority Selection Draft. Many expect him to be one of the first five players taken off the board on draft day. Allan is a reliable presence at both ends of the ice playing a style consisting of his hockey IQ and vision. Confidence is arguably the biggest aspect of Allan’s game. The Toronto Nationals blue-liner likes to control the pace of play and doesn’t succumb to pressure on the ice. His mentality and approach is what coaches praise and look for from all of their players. Allan’s confidence is most prominent with the puck on his stick. He is a strong puck-mover who boasts a strong and subtle offensive game.
Getting his name on the scoresheet is not his first priority as he is a rather unselfish player. Allan boasts an above average wrist shot and a lethal slap-shot at his disposal. His shot gets off of his stick quickly and with power that opposing players should not underestimate.
Stemming from his ability to read the game well, Allan has a great defensive stick that is always in the right place to disrupt plays and poke pucks loose. He is a strong two-way player on the ice that has all of the skills necessary to make it to the next level. His hockey IQ should allow Allan to adjust to the OHL right away and look right at home.
