A diamond in the rough, Ethan Miedema may be the biggest name you have never heard of coming into the 2021 OHL Draft. Miedema has received high praise from coaches and scouts alike as one of the top talents in his age group. Miedema has star potential written all over him. With exceptional size for the left wing position, along with his incredible hands, this makes him a force to be reckoned with. Miedema is a complete player, able to use his two-way playstyle to make an impact on every facet of the game. Miedema has no trouble generating offence either for himself or his linemates. A legitimate goal scorer with exceptional awareness for where his teammates are around him, Miedema rightfully draws ample attention from opposing teams while he is on the ice. Miedema's greatest offensive attribute comes in the form of his one-timer. Miedema is fantastic at locating the opening inside of the passing lanes and leaves no doubt on tape-to-tape feeds, often resulting in the goal horn sounding. Miedema has a rare mixture of size and skill that is well sought out within junior hockey. He has a mature mindset and is a determined player on the ice. Miedema makes the most of his ice time with unrelenting pressure on both sides of the puck as he makes play after play to ensure his squad walks away with the victory. His size and strength is another asset to his game. He is not easily moved off the puck and is open to contact, dishing out hard checks as he jockeys for possession of the puck. Miedema may be one of the best all-around prospects coming into this year's draft and a bright future could be on the young forwards horizon.
