One of the most physically gifted prospects in this year's OHL Draft, Izayah Luddington could become a dominant player at the next level. While this year's OHL Draft is chalk full of talented defensemen, Luddington is a unique talent. Luddington plays the game with an offensive mindset that sets him apart from other defensemen in the upcoming draft. Luddington is solid while walking the blue line, able to keep his head up and make great tape-to-tape passes. Luddington's vision is spectacular, able to see plays most are unable to while on the ice. A great passer, Luddington is able to push the pace in transition both with on target outlet passes, as well as able to push the puck up the ice himself in transition. Luddington's ability to lead the rush effectively showcases his above average skating ability for a defenseman. Luddington is also a deadly player on the powerplay, able to snap the puck around the perimeter until he is able to find an easy shot on net. Luddington is a great athlete but is still fairly slim for his height. If Luddington is able to add some muscle, he will become incredibly hard to stop in transition, as well as will greatly improve his ability to play physically along the boards, an area of his game that currently needs improvement. Luddington may be an under the radar prospect heading into the OHL Draft currently, but Luddington has all the makings of a stud prospect in the coming years.
