Left handed defender Brayden Turley is a solid two-way defender with OHL caliber skating. Starting in the defensive zone Brayden is sound positionally and wins battles in front of his net and in the corners. He uses his body to force opponents off the puck and can overpower them into turning over the puck. He has a great stick and stick checks with a purpose but also uses it to block passing lanes and be a nuisance to opponents trying to set up. In transition Brayden has great first passes to break out of his zone but often uses his skating to lead the transition and breakout. As one of the fastest defenders in the league Brayden can afford to join the rush and get back so he uses this to be a backdoor or third option on the breakout. When set up in the offensive zone Brayden is still honing his skills but is still very effective. He has a booming shot from the point that is fairly accurate while also being able to cycle the puck and find open teammates. He has great vision and an ability to move around the zone and create space for himself and his teammates. Brayden abuses his speed and pitches hard on the forecheck more often than not but is being taught how to make the right decision as at the next level it'll be important to not get exposed biting in on the forecheck. Brayden does backcheck hard when he needs to and defends the rush very well. He skates backwards very smoothly and uses his comfort skating backwards to win one on one battles off the rush. Brayden plays all special teams for his team and has all the tools to be an effective two way defender at the next level.
