One of the more underrated defensemen in the 2022 OHL draft, Carson Campbell is someone you should be hearing more about. Campbells most noticeable strength would be his elite level skating. While he is not a super offensive defender, he uses this skating to move around effortlessly in his own zone. Campbell is an extremely competitive player and has an extremely high work ethic to boot. This mentality makes him prone to going into the dirty areas of the ice, where he has no issue battling along the boards for a puck. Campbell is also capable of using his skating to be a very effective puck mover, making him a very important player on the back end of the team. With Campbell being a name not many people have heard of, he will likely slip farther in the draft than he should, but he should definitely get looks in the middle rounds. For most defensemen his age, Campbell is hard at work on his decision making ability, which will help up the young defenders draft stock. At the next level, expect to see Campbell standing in as a more stay-at-home defender, who can hold the line well, while being able to handle the defensive aspects of the game very well. Campbell could very easily be a diamond in the rough.
