Connor Weido is a high skilled, two way centreman on the Greater Kingston Junior Gaels. Though he is short, he’s a stockier player, and has no issues going into the dirty areas and grinding it out in the corners. Weido displays an amazing hockey IQ, and is an amazing faceoff player, being relied upon in the later minutes of a game to win a crucial draw for his team. Weido has a great all around game, and can be efficient in his own zone, while being able to create chances in the offensive zone. Weido plays in every situation, whether it’s the Power Play, the Penalty Kill, or the aforementioned final minutes of a game, he does it all. The biggest thing for Weido to work on is to start coming out of his shell a bit more. Weido is a quiet player, but he lets his play do the speaking. Obviously, Weido would also benefit from a bit of a growth spurt, as the OHL has a lot of big players that could give him some trouble physically, but Weido may be able to work on some positioning as a means to get him out of the way of danger, and stay alert at all times so no one takes advantage of his smaller stature. Definitely an interesting player to be watching for in the coming draft.
