A smooth skating defender, Evan McMillan is a smart do it all defender. Evan, playing on one of the age groups best d-cores, plays on both special teams and is very good in all 3 zones of the ice. In his own zone he defends well, he disrupts plays by blocking shooting and passing lanes. He uses his edgework and agility downlow in the zone to win puck battles. He is smart and makes sure he is positionally sound. With the puck in his own end he remains calm and poised. He makes smart passes into transition but also has fantastic skating that's quick and evasive which allows him to lead the breakout on occasion. When he isn’t leading the breakout he usually joins it as he loves to be involved in the play and uses his smarts to be in the right spot. In the offensive zone he can create and run plays by himself and is equipped with both a shot and playmaking ability to do just about everything. He does struggle with actually finding his way onto the scoreboard but as luck comes to him and he gets stronger that won’t be an issue. Evan has battled injuries over the past year or so but when 100% healthy he is a player opponents always watch out for. Watch for him to dominate this upcoming year and be a game-changing defender at the next level.
