A big right handed defenseman, Even Phillips, is a player who is in high demand. Every team would kill to have a right handed defenseman, as they are so rare in the higher leagues, which would greatly affect Phillips’ draft stock. Phillips loves to play a heavy, physical game, however, he is being affected in that department greatly by being in a situation where contact is not allowed. Despite this, Phillips has still found a way around this disadvantage, as he has worked greatly on making it hard to play against him. Phillips is a player who is capable of taking feedback and then applying it to his game the following shift. While it is still too soon to tell, Phillips could go somewhere in the higher to mid rounds due to the scarcity of right handed defensemen in any given year, where he could end up translating to a big, physical defensive minded defender, who can punish the opposition whenever they cross the blue line. If any team is looking for this style of defenseman, then Phillips could very possibly draw some attention at the 2022 OHL draft. As long as he sticks to his game, Phillips could be a very promising young player for the club that chooses to draft him.
