A highly underrated defender, right shooting Ian Lightheart, should be looked at more for the skills he can bring the table. Lightheart is primarily known for being a big, strong, shutdown defenseman, who can man the line and d-zone very well. As well as this, Lightheart is great at making that first big breakout pass, helping turn defense into offense for his team. Despite being a well known shutdown player, Lightheart has also been developing his offensive game as well. Lightheart has an extremely heavy shot, and is working hard to make it more efficient and use it more effectively. This is a great thing to see from a defensive minded player, as it can really help up his draft stock if he can develop a very strong two way game. At the draft, Lightheart could possibly see himself going around the mid round, where at the OHL level, he could go on to serve as a strong defensive defenseman who can step up to the blue line and unleash a deadly clapper from the point. Only time will tell, but the future is looking pretty promising for Lightheart, and it will only get better as he continues to grow and develop his game further.
