While his stats may not reflect it, Rowen Cherrett is arguably one of the best goalies available for the 2022 OHL draft. Despite an exodus of the top players in Grey-Bruce, Cherrett decided to stay with his current team, and serves as the top player and backbone for his squad, and gives them a chance to stay in the game every night. Cherrett displays an amazing butterfly game, with amazing lateral movement and quick feet in the crease. Cherrett can typically face up to 45 shots a night, and routinely stops it all with his pads or eats up the shots. The initial shot rarely gets by him, and he will challenge extremely hard on the second shot. Cherrett has also improved on his puck playing ability greatly, and now comes out of his net frequently to play the puck, and sports some disgusting hands, such as being able to pull a slick toe drag to pull it out of danger. Despite getting lit up more often than not, Cherrett has ice in his veins and does not get rattles, he simply regroups and gets ready for the next shot. Cherrett prides himself on his positioning, and seems to have a 6th sense that tells him where everyone is at during the play, allowing him to focus on where the threats are. As for the OHL, Cherrett should be amongst the top in regards to goalies, however it would be unsurprising if he slips further down in the draft, where he could be a steal for whichever team snags him. Cherrett could possibly challenge for a goaltending spot a year after his draft, but could also be in the mix directly after the draft depending on the team's current goalie situation.
