Goalies impact the game in many ways, from making big saves late in a game to communicating well with their defenders, goalies have a wide range of responsibilities. One of the greatest attributes a goalie can provide however is displaying confidence and calmness. This is simply because their energy has a huge impact on the game. When a goalie is seen as confident and relaxed their team can become more offensive and not worry about the defense side of the game. This is what Ryerson Landers provides to his Toronto Nationals team in the GTHL. He is known to be a hard to beat athletic goalie who makes game changing stops and gives his team a chance to win every game he’s in net. He is positionally sound and is aggressive when facing shooters, coming out and challenging them to beat him and not staying back in his crease. Ryerson knows where his net is at all times and is great and hovering his posts when the puck is deep in the zone. He is incredibly flexible and can cover the whole net when facing high danger situations spreading out and covering the bottom of the net. With more experience the little things like puck handling will only get better and with a dedicated, hard working attitude he has the potential to be a game changing goalie at the next level.
