An imposing right handed defenseman for the Mississauga Rebels, Tyler O’Toole, is making leaps and bounds as he chases the OHL draft. O’Toole is one of a lethal duo of twins, with his brother Aiden playing forward. O’Toole has become one of the hardest hitting defenseman in the league, akin to someone like Zach Bogosian, and possesses a powerful shot, and excellent skating ability. O’Toole is a more extroverted and vocal player, both on and off the ice, and has trained tirelessly, a true statement to his work ethic. Over the past 6 months, O’Toole has been training with the top D trainer, Brian McLaughlin, and is expected to be highly sought after in the draft, largely attributed to his handedness and play. O’Toole is an active young player, playing not only ice hockey, but also lacrosse, ball hockey, and roller hockey, and is feared in those sports as well. He is more of a stay at home defenseman, and isn’t known to jump into the rush overly much, but with his shot, he can rip one from the blue line easily. O’Toole is described as a top to bottom player, who is constantly upping his value, and is looking to cement himself as a top GTHL defenseman this coming season. O’Toole knows that it will take to reach the OHL level, and thus, is working on his gap control more, while continuing to up his other skills year after year. Overall, Tyler O’Toole is expected to jump in draft stock as the season progresses, and could see himself sneaking into the first round of the 2022 OHL draft as one of the top defensemen. At the OHL level, it could be expected that O’Toole will remain as he is now, a tough, bone crushing defender who focuses primarily on his defensive play and bullies his opponents, while also being able to make that ever so crucial first pass out of the zone.
